Huobi Global, a China-based but Seychelles-registered cryptocurrency exchange, has partnered with online payment option AstroPay to buy cryptocurrencies with fiat currencies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Huobi, one of the world’s largest foreign exchange exchanges, currently plans to build a complex on-ramp to facilitate trade in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.
Users in these countries will be able to make purchases and transactions through a variety of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and electronic payment platforms, including the Brazilian government’s Pix and Mexico’s Interbank Electronic Payment System (SPEI).
With latest move, Huobi joins Bybit and MetaMask as global player in buying fiat-to-cryptocurrency in Latin America
In May, Huobi Global acquired Bitex, a Latin American cryptocurrency exchange operating in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Paraguay, and plans to do business in Peru and other undisclosed countries in the region.
Astropay was founded in 2009 by Uruguayans Andrs Bzurovski and Sergio Fogel. The company has offices in the UK and Latin America and supports more than 200 digital payment options.
